Windows Server 2022 requires a computer with at least one storage drive (in most cases, this is your C:\
drive). You can connect a storage device using different bus types, such as IDE, SATA, SAS, and USB. Before you can utilize a storage device in Windows, you need to initialize it and create a partitioning scheme.
You can use two partitioning schemes: the older format of Master Boot Record (MBR) and the more recent GUID Partition Table (GPT). The MBR scheme, first introduced with the PC DOS 2 in 1983, had some restrictions. For example, the largest partition supported with MBR is 2 TB. And to create more than four primary partitions, you would need an extended partition and then create additional partitions inside the extended partition.
