In a general sense, if you maintain an active social persona and have an updated resume, recruiters will always find you first. There are many job boards, and some recruiters buy entire databases of candidates so that once you are on the job board, you may continue to receive emails even after you are no longer looking.

You can also add or message recruiters – first- or third -party – directly about the jobs they have posted on. While I do not recommend filling your LinkedIn with recruiters only, I do think it is normal for 1/3 of your contacts to be related to job hunting or career growth. That is the primary purpose of LinkedIn.
