Cloud IAM on Google Cloud Platform

Many cloud service providers have versions of IAM for their cloud applications. So far, whenever we've mentioned Cloud IAM, we were referring to IAM on the cloud in general but since the IAM service on Google Cloud Platform is called Cloud IAM, we will refer to that specifically whenever we use the term Cloud IAM.

Cloud IAM and traditional IAM are very similar in that they both allow developers to control access and manage identities from the same service, with the cloud service being much more flexible and scalable. Cloud IAM also has a wide range of additional features on top of the basic IAM functionality. We'll discuss these components in this chapter as well but first, let's take a look at the features of Cloud IAM, as well as the Cloud IAM life cycle.
