Summary
A relational database has its limitations when it comes to storing XML documents. The Berkeley DB XML database stores all XML documents and provides the provision to query, modify, and update documents without having to retrieve the documents from the database. In this chapter you learned to use the Berkeley DB XML database from the command shell and with the Berkeley DB XML API in JDeveloper 11g.
In the next chapter we will create PDF and XML reports using the Oracle XML Publisher API in JDeveloper.
