Summary
In this chapter, we discussed the key aspects of RAC database configuration, creation, and options to manage an Oracle RAC database such as using the Server Cluster Utility (SRVCTL
) and sqlplus
commands. We then looked at Automatic Workload Management, which provides High Availability and Scalability solutions to your application while working in an RAC environment.
By the end of this chapter, you should understand how to configure and manage the RAC database in your environment and be able to use the RAC features such as distributing the workload across all instances in the RAC database and re-routing lost connections to surviving instances. In the next chapter, we are going to deal with backup and recovery scenarios for different types of database and cluster components such as OCR and Voting Disk.
