Summary
In this chapter, we gained an overview of SQL Azure, and examined some of the similarities and differences between SQL Server 2008 and SQL Azure. We also walked through setting up our SQL Azure service. Because SQL Azure is a managed service, a number of SQL Server commands and functions are not available to us, and many of the administrative functions have also been removed. There are considerations developers and administrators alike must make when building or migrating an application to Azure. Finally, we provisioned and created our local JupiterERP database and portal database in SQL Azure.
