Other enhancements – permissions, exporting, and exclusions

VBR v12 has also introduced further enhancements to help backup administrators with day-to-day management tasks. Some of these new changes are as follows:

  • Permissions restore: Typically, when you do file/folder level restores within VBR v12, it will restore both the folder/files and permissions. But what if you don’t need to restore files/folders but rather fix the permissions on a folder/files or directory structure? Well, that is one of the changes made in v12, where you can restore just the file/folder permissions.

  • VM exclusions: You can now exclude a VM from being processed, excluding it from a job even when added to a backup job, a policy, or as part of a container, as noted.
