Key in the alien robot


In this task you will bring in the 3D animation of a mechanized robot (MechBot.avi) onto your Timeline, then you will use the blue screen key to remove the blue background it was rendered against. You'll also use keyframes to bring the robot to life and set markers to help you best work out where those keyframes need to be. This part will utilize skills you should already know well from the previous projects.

Engage Thrusters

Add the MechBot to your Timeline and remove the blue background. Perform the following steps to do so:

  1. Make sure the Project panel is the active panel. Then double-click on MechBot.avi to send it to the Source Monitor.

  2. Make sure the Source Monitor is the active panel, then use the J, K, and L keys to scrub through the MechBot.avi animation. As the walk motion begins to reach the end, you need to place a marker (press M) just at the point when the left foot contacts the ground (around 02;18).

  3. With the marker in place, make the Timeline the active panel...
