Clipping with clones
After an object has been clipped we can still edit its clipping object by using the Node tool. However, it may sometimes be inconvenient if there are a lot of nodes, resulting in an unclear drawing or if we wish to have a more clear visualization of the clipping path.
This can be done by using a clone as a clipping path on another object, so we end up with the clone original next to the clipped object free to show us the clipping path.
How to do it...
Clipping can be performed by carrying out the following steps:
1. Create a star using the Star tool (Shift + F9 or *) and choose a color for its fill and stroke.
2. Convert it to a path (Shift + Ctrl + C, or Path | Object to Path).
3. Duplicate the star (Ctrl + D). Remove its stroke and make its fill Lime (#00FF00). Move it away from the original star.
4. Clone the duplicated star (Alt + D) and position the clone over the original star.
5. Select the clone and the original star (Shift + Alt and left-click) and clip them by...
