Summary
This chapter shows how to expose a NAV object as a web service (in this case the Sales Order page) and how to create an application with Visual Studio and .NET in order to use this published web service.
You learned how to create a console application with Visual Studio, how to reference a published NAV web service in Visual Studio, and then how to use the web service methods and objects to perform operations such as retrieving and deleting data from NAV and creating new records on NAV (sales orders) with indirect calls to all the NAV business logic.
The chapter also shows you how to use an OData web service (endpoint) for reading NAV data and how to create a cross-platform application by using the new .NET core framework.
Now you have all you need to know in order to use NAV web services from custom applications. In the next chapters, we'll see how to use all these concepts in real-world applications.
