Validating network connectivity and security

When building a pivoting lab, we must test and validate the network connectivity of the environment. This will help ensure that the network configuration, necessary routes, and firewall rules have been set up to facilitate the movement of traffic between different segments and systems in the network.

Important note

Even if we use automation tools to build the lab infrastructure, it is still possible to encounter network connectivity issues.

There are a variety of ways to validate network connectivity and security. In this section, we will test and validate network connectivity the manual way and the automated way. That said, this section is divided into the following subparts:
