Creating attachment rails
In the next few steps, we will create the top and bottom attachment rails:
- Place a plane at the bottom of the rifle with the help of the 3D Cursor:
- Align the plane with the handguard so it’s overlapping.
When we do this, there will be some distortion on the surface of the plane. This is because there are multiple faces in the exact same place and Blender doesn’t know which one to display, so it displays parts of each face simultaneously:
One way to fix this is to just move the plane down a little. Blender will then be able to figure out which face to display first. In this case, we will reshape the surface so the plane will not overlap with the faces above.
