To get the most out of this book
No prior knowledge of Archicad is necessary. You are expected to have construction knowledge (architectural design), and a basic understanding of 2D CAD drafting is recommended. The book is based on the international version of the software and uses metric units. The hardware requirements should be fine for a basic project (single-family or residential), but larger projects will need more RAM and higher-end CPUs and GPUs.

While model files are provided from the download link in the next section, we advise you to go through all steps one by one to familiarize yourself with input and the software interaction. This experience is essential to become productive in your own projects. When you get stuck, you can take a look at the provided models to get a clean start or compare them with your own model.
You can follow most of the book using versions that are up to 3 or 4 years old. Earlier versions may lack some of the current features, and the interface has also been updated considerably since older versions. If you don’t have access to the full version of the software, a trial or educational version works just fine. Contact a local reseller for further support.
