Modeling Furniture – From the Basics to Intricacy

In Chapter 7, we took a deep dive into 3D Warehouse. There is no doubt that 3D Warehouse is a valuable resource for finding hundreds of thousands of ready-made models. However, what happens when your client wants to see the exact coffee table or armchair that you specified in the 3D model? Sometimes, placeholder furniture doesn’t cut it.

In this chapter, we will use SketchUp’s native tools to model a simple coffee table, a more complex armchair, and a decorative tray. We will also show how to use one of our favorite extensions in the Modeling an armchair using manufacturer specifications section, plus share a few other nifty extensions in the final section, Go-to extensions for modeling furniture.
