Technical requirements
To successfully design and manufacture a 3D-printed trophy, you will need access to the Tinkercad design program to be able to design your models using a web-enabled device. As discussed earlier in Chapter 2, I also recommend that you utilize a mouse to aid in designing complex models more effectively.
To then manufacture your design, you will need access to a 3D printer, whether it be your own or whether you access it through a 3D printing production service as discussed in Chapter 14. We will be looking at settings to print our trophy effectively in CAM, which will be needed to accompany your 3D printer as we also discussed in the previous chapter.
You will need 3D printing material to print your trophy with, whether it be filament for an extrusion-type printer or resin for a vat photopolymerization-type printer. For novelty projects such as this trophy, I like to use specialty filaments that add to the aesthetics, such as metallic silk PLA.
