Using DLP to manage external sharing
In the Microsoft Purview admin center, a global or security admin can create and administer policies designed to detect and respond to sensitive information being shared externally. This section is not an exhaustive effort to cover DLP, but an opportunity for us to see how it can enhance and better secure the SPO sharing experience.
Perhaps we can think about DLP policies as performing very specific searches for us in the places we’ve specified that triggers when it finds something that looks like a match to one of our rules. We as admins and users can be notified and decide how to respond.
Let’s break down what DPL policies are and how they are created, and how admins can be alerted if an action triggers a policy.
