Implementing branding with site themes
While much of the company brand is implemented with the images you choose for pages and the verbiage used to write the brand story, brand colors also promote the corporate branding and often need to be enforced to maintain that standard across sites. Themes in modern SharePoint exclusively mean the color choices for site elements and do not include other elements, such as fonts. A theme can be deployed along with a site template or can be implemented separately.
As with site templates, there is a set of predefined themes (six light and two dark), each with a starting color palette. These themes may be used as offered or modified in the UI to change the preselected colors, as shown in the following screenshot:
