Summary and planning document

In this chapter, we’ve defined common steps in the process of migrating content from file servers, SharePoint on-premises, and other cloud sources. We explored options to migrate content from various sources into SharePoint Online. We’ve seen that the source content somewhat dictates the tool that we use to perform the migration. For example, if we have a cloud source, we should first look at Mover.io as a tool. We also explored some common problems we might encounter when trying to migrate due to custom code, branding, or workflows.

At the close of each chapter, we offer a review of the planning questions important in the chapter and update the template to create your own SharePoint architect’s planning and governance guide. In this chapter, we looked at the five elements important to every migration. We reviewed several tools to help us migrate this content from source to target and some common problems to expect along the way...
