Making an animated bouncing ball

In this recipe, we will learn to create an animation of a bouncing ball. The ball will be made to appear as if it is falling on the floor and then bouncing back up. To make the ball appear as falling to the floor, the ball is displayed at certain x, y coordinates; after drawing the ball, it is cleared from its current place and redrawn just below its original location. This process of drawing of the ball, erasing it, and redrawing at a lower y coordinate location in quick succession will make the ball appear as if it is falling to the ground. The reverse procedure can be used to show the ball bouncing back up.
