Summary
Oracle Enterprise Scheduler has been finally inducted in Oracle SOA Suite 12c without any additional licensing costs. It is an incredibly powerful addition that provides a completely metadata-driven approach to create scheduling components.
In this chapter, we introduced various components within Oracle ESS and discussed their capabilities using some real-life scenarios. On a whole, this chapter broadly covered the following topics:
- Introduction to Oracle ESS, its administration consoles, and terminology
- Creation of Job Definitions, Schedules, and Job Requests
- Submission and monitoring of Job Requests, including viewing their log and audit trails
- Creating Incompatibilities to run jobs that are mutually exclusive of one another
- Creating Job Sets that execute jobs in serial (Job Dependencies) and parallel
