API Manager case study background

WBVC has started an initiative to become a Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE). This new business model requires them to expose functionality to Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) to allow them to activate SIM offerings, provide SIM changes, portability and recharge (among many other services).

WBVC have identified a list of candidate internal services to be exposed as APIs in support of this new offering. However, they face a number of technical challenges when publishing the APIs since the underlying services were not originally designed to be open to third parties.

WBVC have identified that they need to make the following changes to support this new business model:
