Summary

In this chapter, we examined tips and tricks for Oracle RAC performance optimization. We also discussed Cache Fusion concepts and methods for tuning Cache Fusion. Furthermore, we surveyed new Oracle 11g performance tuning features with a focus on tuning Oracle 11g RAC environments. Oracle 11g performance features highlight the instrumentation approach that Oracle has taken to enhance optimization techniques for the developer and Oracle DBA.

In the next chapter, we will discuss upgrade techniques for legacy RAC environments to Oracle 11g R1 and Oracle 11g R2 with the mindset to ensure a high level of availability, performance, and with minimal downtime.
