Summary
In this chapter, we summarized the essential requirements that are necessary to build nodes with the Oracle-recommended prerequisites for a successful cluster installation. We then demonstrated a successful two-node Clusterware and Grid Infrastructures configuration (Version 11g R1 and 11g R2), followed by ASM and RDBMS software installations on the cluster. Towards the end of the chapter, we also demonstrated how to remove a successful Grid Infrastructure configuration and how to reconfigure a failed Grid Infrastructure configuration. By now, you should be able to prepare servers and perform a Cluster/Grid Infrastructure installation.
In the next chapter, we will look at Automatic Storage Management concepts, how to configure ASM instances, prepare disks and disk groups, and new features of Oracle 11g R1 and R2.
