In this chapter, we answered the question of why skipping load testing may not be such a good idea. We then went on to review important considerations for planning and executing your load test. Finally, we looked at open source and commercial tools available for placing a load on our systems.

You will also be able to get an idea of the kind of performance you can expect of your app and its critical components, avoid nasty surprises, and keep your users happy in the short and long run.
