Copying protected data to tape


There may be occasions where you may want to export backup data to tape to archive, for portability, or other reasons. This recipe will provide you with the steps to teach you how to copy protected data to tape.

Getting ready

Before you start a recovery, verify that your tape library does not report any errors and that you have a valid recovery point to restore to.

How to do it…

  1. In the DPM console, go to Recovery and choose the data source you would like to recover.

    Note

    For file, exchange, and SharePoint data, you can use the search function if you don't know where the file or object you want to restore could be found.

  2. Mark the data source and choose the data and time for the recovery. Right-click on the data source and choose Recover… to start the Recovery wizard.

  3. In the Review Recovery Selection step, review the data source that is chosen for recovery and click on Next > to continue.

  4. In the Select recovery type step, choose Copy to tape and click on Next >...
