Preparing the end user for Office 365
There are two primary ways to deploy updates to the end users in preparation for Office 365. These two ways include:
- End user self-deployment
- Distribution from a software deployment service
End user self-deployment
This method consists of the end user navigating to the Office 365 portal and running the Office 365 desktop setup:
- To simplify the process, you can provide your users with the URL that takes them directly to the downloads page. This URL is https://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx. The users will have to log on with their Active Directory account, since the portal will now be using AD FS for all user accounts that were synchronized to Office 365.
- Once the users are on this page, they will be able to see what is available for installation. If you have not altered the user's licenses, prior to navigating to this link, the portal will notify them that they do not yet have a license, as shown in the following screenshot:
