This chapter covered the vSphere native tools that can be used to monitor and troubleshoot performance and other issues in a virtual environment.
Monitoring and troubleshooting are really important tasks to improve the virtual environment and the workloads for performance and efficiency. The chapter focuses on monitoring different critical resources, such as computing, storage, and networking, across the ESXi hosts, the resource pools, and clusters.
In order to help monitoring and troubleshooting, there are also other tools, complementary to the vSphere suite, such as vRealize Operations and several third-party tools specific to those tasks.
In the next chapter, we will discuss security aspects and how to improve the security of a vSphere environment.
