A quick lap around the .NET Core commands

The driver of the .NET Core CLI is dotnet. You can use this along with commands and distinct options to run specific features that it supports. Each of its features is implemented as a command, which you need to specify after the dotnet in the command line.

Here is the list of .NET Core commands:

  • When you use dotnet new, it initializes new project based on the project template and language that you select. The default is C#, and, currently, C# and F# are the only programming languages supported.
  • Following is the list of project templates, their short names to pass to the command, and the language type for each template, for your reference:
  • The dotnet restore command restores the dependencies and tools of a project.
