The other editions – Cinnamon, Lxde, Mate, and so on

It is impossible to cover all possible editions in one chapter. As you have seen, the preceding three have different and rich settings, but most mature projects have these too. From my experience, as I have used both Mate and Cinnamon, they are also good desktop environments. What I can recommend is, when looking for a potential change (or wondering whether to get an official or a community edition), look for online video presentations of the given graphical environment and consider whether you want to check it out. In addition, you could always try it on a virtual machine. You have to consider that sometimes, community editions might not get updates as fast as the official ones.
