Affecting individual clips

Building a camera path is the first step to produce a decent clip, and usually, the next phase is of adding effects to that clip in order to improve the animation that is created. This recipe introduces some techniques to add effects to individual clips and how they can contribute to have a smoother workflow.

Getting ready

To follow this recipe, we need at least one clip, although two clips will help us understand some techniques that are demonstrated in a better way.

How to do it…

To apply effects to individual clips, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the Movie mode and, if necessary, create two simple clips.
  2. To add an effect to a clip, you need to select it first; you know that the clip is selected because a halo will appear around the clip and two buttons appear on top of the clip.
  3. On the top-left corner of the screen, you can find at least four buttons, as shown in the following screenshot:

  4. To add an effect, select the New effect button and the Movie effect...
