Integrating Open Social Gadgets in Neighborhood site
So far you have seen portlets being installed and added to pages to perform various functions in the Neighborhood site. In this section, we will explore a new concept called Open Social Gadgets. These apps are developed using Open Social API (http://www.opensocial.org/), which allows them to run on various sites such as hi5, LinkedIn, MySpace, Netlog, Ning, orkut, and Yahoo!. Open Social gadgets are available as XML files; you can either refer to them at another website or host them on your own site. Liferay provides support for Open Social Apps out of box by integrating the Open Social container based on Shindig (http://shindig.apache.org/), which can hold Open Social Apps. In this section we will configure a few Open Social Apps in the Neighborhood site.
