Chapter 15 : Resource and Cost Management

Projects have complex resourcing requirements. If there is no competition for a resource, then it is doesn't need to be managed; for example, the dedicated laptop of an employee need not be explicitly managed. All other resources are to be acquired at a suitable time on the schedule and released at project closure. For example, people, machinery, materials, and budgets have to be carefully orchestrated among competing project demands and need to be managed.

Resourcing is inextricably linked to cost since resources cost money. It is imperative for all competitive organizations to monitor and control project costs.
