Using Kinect with your Windows PC speech recognition


Once your system detects the Kinect microphone array as an audio device, you can configure it for speech recognition to control your computer using the speech command. Let's have a look at how you can use the Windows speech recognition with the Kinect microphone array. To do so we have to perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Control Panel | Manage Audio Devices | Recording. Set Microphone Array as the default audio device.

  2. Right-click on the default device and select Configure Speech Recognition from the context menu as shown in the next screenshot:

  3. From the speech recognition configuration windows, you can start the speech recognition, but before that you need to link the microphone array with the speech recognition system. To enable that, first click on the Set up microphone option as shown in the next screenshot:
