VxRail scale-out rules
When we seek to expand a VxRail cluster, we must stick to the following scale-out rules:
- The first three VxRail nodes in a cluster must be of identical models.
- Hybrid and all-flash modes, as well as an all-NVMe node, cannot mix in a VxRail cluster.
- All VxRail nodes in a cluster must run the same network speed, such as 25 GbE, 10 GbE, or 1 GbE.
- All VxRail nodes in a cluster must run software of the same version.
- All G Series VxRail nodes in a chassis must be of identical models.
- A 1 GbE network only supports the VxRail Hybrid system with a single CPU processor.
- The expansion node must have been physically added to the VxRail cluster, and the node connected to the VxRail network.
- The expansion node must be discovered with VxRail Manager. The external management network of a new node must be untagged on the native VLAN by default. The internal discovery network of a new node uses the default VLAN of 3939.
