Summary
By now, you can appreciate the complexities in moving from the procuring of a biometric system to the integration phase. In this chapter, we took a look at considerations on how to interface with existing systems. We reviewed network topologies and outlined the importance of understanding and managing the data flow, so that the data moves efficiently through the network.
We covered the importance of baselining the network, to help with troubleshooting. Then we discussed ways to protect the biometric data and reduce the risk of exposure. We outlined the concept of a directory and saw how, when we integrate the biometric system with the directory, this will provide a more efficient and secure system. Finally, we covered how incidents and disasters can occur. We then learned why it’s important to move quickly after a disaster to restore services to ensure BC.
