Understanding the Sametime server install

As the Sametime 8.5.2 environment is rather complex, it is important to understand that the installation needs to follow a step-by-step process in terms of installing the components in the proper order. We suggest the following components to be installed:

• Install IBM DB2 and create a DB2 database for the Sametime System Console

• Install the Sametime System Console

• Install or configure an existing LDAP server

• Install a Sametime Community Server

• Install a Sametime Proxy Server

• Install a Sametime Media Server

• Create a DB2 database for the Sametime Meeting Server

• Install the Sametime Meeting Server

• Install the Bandwidth Manager Server

• Install the TURN Server

The most important aspects of this install are correctly installing DB2, SSC (and WAS environment), and LDAP. We will also include information about installing a Bandwidth Manager and a TURN Server. These may be optional servers in your environment.
