In this chapter, we acquired a general overview of how FMX works, building some bridges with the pre-existent VCL approach where available. Some concepts explained in this chapter will act as a background for the coming chapters, where these basics will be used all together to build modern UIs with FMX.
It is always hard to compare two frameworks, especially when their chronological distance can be measured in decades, but, given some common traits and some evident effort (in FMX) not to completely disrupt the past Delphi experience, I hope you finished this chapter with more confidence about FMX and its philosophy.
In the next chapter, we will get to know some other FMX components, especially the most common and used ones.
