Years ago, when I was attending a Cisco conference, in a conversation with some friends, one of them told us about how he had designed a network and deployed some network devices. As he talked about his solution, my ears caught the expression, "Set it and forget it."
There is no doubt that designing a computer network requires proper planning. Planning also includes the configuration of network devices. All of the planning activities contribute to network performance, and that is what matters the most for organizations—knowing that the organization's productivity depends directly upon network performance.
