Politics, power, and leadership
According to The PMBOK® Guide – 6th Edition, project managers have to dance between the realms of power, politics, and getting things done. We've all been affected by politics in our organization in some way, shape, or form throughout our careers. Politics are not necessarily good or bad, but as a project manager, it's important to understand how your organization works and how politics could impact you and your project. One of the little-known tasks that project managers are supposed to do is observe organizational landscapes in order to collect information about the project. Projects are unique and therefore the information that is being collected needs to be reviewed, keeping in mind the project, the organization, and all the stakeholders involved.
