Okay, so what’s next?
We have the business processes written down and planned out. Now, we must make sure that they can be completed in D365 as the client requires. We did the fit/gap analysis and we know what will and won’t work by default, but the client is insistent that the system works exactly the way their current business process works. What do we do now? There are two different ways to approach this:
- First, we can try to better understand why they are so set on a specific process
- Second, we can try to convince them that our way is better
Let’s listen to the client
Now, you might be thinking “I’m the SA! I’m the expert in this system. What does the client know about anything? That’s why they hired me!” Frankly, if that is the attitude that you go in with, you’ve already failed. You have to go in with an open mind and be flexible enough to realize that their business might have a very valid reason...
