In this chapter, we have discussed the VPC networking concepts that are available in Amazon Web Services. We looked at the way networking is defined with CIDRs for the VPC network and the subnets contained within the VPC. We have also learned how to provide connectivity to the subnets via the internet gateway and on-premises connectivity options, and defined the difference between a public and private subnet. We also learned how to connect our VPC to other VPCs and services running in AWS by using endpoints and private links. Security is a very important component of networking and in this chapter we have learned how to use network access control lists and security groups to provide comprehensive security to instances running inside our VPC.
