Transcoding Sequences for archiving or before up-res
Please review items 1, 2, and 3 in the Introduction section of this chapter.
Before you Transcode (or Consolidate, or Decompose) a sequence, it is highly recommended that you first duplicate it and place the duplicate into its own well-labeled bin (for example, My Movie Before Transcode). This extra version is a protection in case you make an error, and it will help to keep your project organized.
Common reasons why you may want or need to Transcode a sequence:
Situation 1 – archiving after finishing:
You have previously Decomposed the sequence (which made

Master Clips for each segment in the sequence). You have already gone through the up-res process and recaptured the video at a high resolution (for example, 1:1). You have finished all of the final outputs.
