Adding Filler within a sequence with Splice or Overwrite
In this recipe, we will see how the programming of Avid Media Composer allows you to edit Filler at the beginning of a Sequence, or anywhere between segments of video or audio. However, it does not allow you to Splice or Overwrite Filler at the end of a Sequence (don't worry, Avid gave us a way around that, and it's discussed in the recipe that follows this one).
How to do it...
Go to the Clip Name Menu above the Source Window.
From the Clip Name Menu select Load Filler.
By default, Media Composer gives you 2 minutes of Filler. Mark In and Mark Out for the duration you would like to edit into your sequence.
Enable the Source and Timeline Track Selectors as needed.
Splice or Overwrite the selected duration of Filler into your sequence.
There's more...
Very frequently the engineers at Avid provide us with multiple methods to accomplish a task, and this is the case with adding Filler at the beginning of a sequence.
