Mapping Workspaces and Bin Layouts
You'll find that mapping your Workspaces and Bin Layouts to buttons in the interface or buttons on the keyboard will speed up your work and save you some frustration.
The engineers for Avid Media Composer Version 6 have implemented a new method for mapping Workspaces and Bin Layouts. In the Command Palette, there is now a new tab labeled as Workspaces, which provides you with 12 buttons to which either Workspaces or Bin Layouts can be assigned. It's important to note that the only way to map custom Workspaces and Bin Layouts is to use these buttons. You can not use the traditional Command Palette + "Menu to Button Reassignment" mapping method (discussed in the Mapping buttons and menu selections recipe in this chapter) with custom Workspaces or Bin Layouts. However, the original six Workspaces still do work with the traditional Command Palette + "Menu to Button Reassignment" mapping method.
