Tip #6: How to Update Posting Properties Directly from a Template File
MCMS provides separate avenues for updating a posting’s placeholder and property values. Placeholder content is updated from a template file. Property and custom property values are updated by accessing the Page Properties dialog. When working on a posting, an author typically needs to update both placeholder and property values. Having to go to two different pages creates the possibility of authors forgetting to update one or the other.
A sure way to ensure that authors don’t leave out any important information would be to have a single page that updates everything—all placeholder, property, and custom property values. Ideally that should be the template. When the author clicks on the Edit button, all fields that require editing are displayed.
