Chapter 3. Exploring Company Structures and the Initial Client Setup
While preparing for an ADempiere implementation, we have to know exactly how to map our company structures into ADempiere. Consider the next example from the fashion industry. An apparel company will have at least one or more Facility (plant) at which to manufacture clothes. It will also have one or more Warehouses in which to put the Raw Materials and Finished Goods.
There is no strict guidance on how to map your company structure into ADempiere. It is an art. In ADempiere, company structures will involve configuration of at least the Client, Organization, and Warehouse.
Based on our final company structure configuration, our upcoming document transaction will generate General Ledger (GL) journal entries in ADempiere accounting parts, which will also contain Client, Organization, and if applicable, Warehouse information.
