3D printing Tinkercad designs with Autodesk Fusion
Autodesk Fusion is a unique program as it combines CAD and CAM into one application. You could use Fusion to design 3D models, as we have learned to do in Tinkercad, and you can also use Fusion to prepare models for 3D printing, like we did using Cura in the previous section.
A benefit of using Fusion is that it allows for a seamless transition from Tinkercad, as both programs are made by Autodesk. Fusion also offers advanced modeling tools, as well as tools for rendering and animation, which may allow you to elevate your design and modeling skills past what is possible in Tinkercad. And unlike CAM programs like Cura which are specific to 3D printing, Fusion’s CAM features are compatible with a range of additive, subtractive, and formative manufacturing techniques as we discussed in Chapter 10.
