In this chapter we learned how to build a smart parking system using some hardware and software stuff like sensors, camera, electronics, and a Raspberry Pi as a central interface, and we used Arduino to detect when a car enters the parking. After that, we built a parking system plan with some elements for detecting and logging data in a database, which can help us know the number of cars that are in the and how many parking spaces are left; at the end, we mentioned some steps to follow in order to integrate the system with AWS IoT services; for example, the project can be improved by detecting vacant places using a camera and determining which specific places are vacant by taking a picture of the entire parking lot.
In the next chapter, we will see how to build a home system: Netflix’s The Switch for the living room. It will be an interesting project!
