You will need to purchase several ControlLogix PLC components to create the robot bartender. As this project isn't meant for industrial use, it's fine to use lower-cost, used components. I have always had great luck purchasing used equipment off eBay. Rockwell equipment is quite rugged and meant to run for years. I have never purchased a used PLC part that was dead on arrival from the internet, but perhaps I have just been lucky. Damage to industrial control equipment happens after it reaches my lab.
I usually try to buy an entire rack that has been pulled from a control system. Sometimes, you can find Rockwell racks that are loaded with CPUs, Ethernet cards, and many modules for a reasonable price. Often, in these packages, I find cards I am familiar with, which gives me the opportunity to play around with them. If that strategy fails, it is perfectly fine to purchase each required component separately.
