From “Data Mess” to Data Mesh – how?
The turning point came with Microsoft’s realization that it needed to accelerate its digital transformation in 2020.
This transformation encompassed rethinking business processes, products, and team organization. One fundamental aspect of this transformation was data.
The company recognized the disorganization of data, which, while allowing the business to perform, did not serve as an enabler for a future dominated by digital processes. This led to the question of how to rebuild the architecture to make data connected, single-copied, and broadly available, as well as qualitative and trustworthy.
The Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) was created in response to this need.
